WHAT IS FIDELITY HOUSE?  Fidelity House is a non-profit community center that has been serving the needs of Arlington and surrounding communities for the past 55 years!   We offer programs for kids of all ages and aspire to fit the many needs of our community.   Our programs are designed to offer participants a chance to develop skills while having fun. 

 

HOW TO USE THIS BROCHURE  This Fall Brochure includes an overview of what is offered seasonally at Fidelity House and separate brochures describe several of these programs in depth and include registration forms.  Weekly newsletters are written September through June which offer the latest up-to-date information on what is going on at Fidelity House and can be obtained at our registration desk or on our website at www.fidelityhouse.org.   In addition, the local Arlington Advocate newspaper highlights current information.  

 
Registrations for any of these programs are taken at the Fidelity House office.  We are also happy to answer any questions you may have or mail information at your request.

HELPFUL FIDELITY HOUSE PROGRAM DEFINITIONS    

Preschool, Educational environment that children 2. 9 years – 5 year olds learn to develop their educational, emotional, physical and social skills.

PreKindergarten-  More advanced educational environment that children 4– 5 year olds learn to develop their educational, emotional, physical and social skills. 

School Age Child Care Program-  Structured After School Program offered for youth kindergarten through 6th grade.   Program includes coverage for after school hours, days off from school and ½ days.  Transportation from local Arlington schools is included.   

Open Membership-  Encompassing program offered for 2nd graders and up that kids tailor towards their own interests.   Youth combine a drop –in recreational experience with structured programs targeted for their own interests and development.  


The School Age Child Care Program (SACCP), established in 1984, provides a safe and creative environment for school age children in Kindergarten through 6th grade.  The program is fully licensed and follows the guidelines of the Department of Early Education and Care.   Parents have the option of enrolling in either
our After School Program,
our Full Day/Snow Day program or
both the After School & Full Day Programs  

The SACCP After School Program, started 26 YEARS ago, is based at Fidelity House and FiHo 2.  Hours are from 2-­5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year.  The program also provides coverage during school early release days.  Extended care is available for children until 6:30 pm for an additional fee. The program consists of: arts & crafts, sports, table games, group games, trips, cooking classes and special events. Youth in this program may also register for the age appropriate sports/special interest seasonal programs that are offered during the times they attend.  A nutritious snack is served daily. Transportation from several of the surrounding public schools to Fidelity House is available. The SACCP Full Day/Snow Day Program We offer Full Day Programs from 8:00 a.m.  – 5:30 p.m. any time school is not in session.  Full Day coverage includes school holidays, vacation days, snow days and teacher conference days.  Families registered in this program then have the option to choose which days they would like their child to participate in.  Special local trips and special events are planned for those days. 


OPEN MEMBERSHIP Program is offered for youth in 2nd – 12th  grades.  Members combine an age appropriate drop –in recreational experience with structured programs tailored for their own interests and development.  

Scheduled gym time, age designated game rooms, special interest youth programs, a drop-in arts and crafts program, and special events are available. A current membership is required for all drop-in & scheduled youth programs.  Members bring cards with them to check in.

Toddler thru 1st grade Age

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM- The Preschool, now in its 34th year, is open to children 2.9 to 5 year olds.  ­Classes are offered weekday mornings from 8:45-11:45 a.m. and  afternoons from 12:15 p.m.  – 3:15 p.m.  The   Pre-School is licensed under the guidelines of the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAM  This advanced Preschool program is offered Mon.through Fri., 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Registration for   3 - 5 days/week. Brochures describing the program in detail are available at our office.
PRESCHOOL SPORTS-Preschoolers 3- 5 years old will be introduced to the basics of sports in a fun way.  Different sports will be highlighted each week with fun games designed for gross motor skill development, group social skills and physical fitness. Wednesdays, 10 - 10:45 a.m.    New session September 29- November 3, $36 for 6 weeks. Next session starts November 10- December 15, $36 for 6 weeks, $7 drop in fee per class. 
GYMNASTICS –Established program for over 20 years!  3 different classes are offered for pre-school (ages 3-5) on Mondays, 12:30- 1:30 p.m., Thursdays 10 – 11 a.m. or Saturdays, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Kindergarten classes are offered on Saturday, 11 – 12 noon and Mondays, 3 – 4 p.m. or 4-5 p.m. Space is limited!   Fall sessions offered September 18- November 1, November 4 – December 18. SPORTS ACADEMY 3- 4 p.m. Game fundamentals, drills & sportsmanship are incorporated into games. Grades 1 & 2 meet from 3—4 p.m. WHIFFLE BALL—Tuesdays- 6 week session begins September 28- November 2, $30. KICKBALL-Fridays-5 week session begins October 1- October 29, $25. BASKETBALL begins Friday, Nov. 5 – Dec. 17. 6 weeks, $30 (no 11/26) & FLOOR HOCKEY begins Tuesday, Nov. 9- Dec. 21. 7 weeks, $35. ** Please note– Open Membership is for 2nd grade and up. 1st graders requiring care before and/or after the program will need to register for our School Age Child Care Program.  Please check with our office for details.



2nd – 4th Graders
ARTS & CRAFTS-Free drop-in program offered on Tues., Wed., and Fridays, 2:15-4:30 pm. Recycled materials are used for many of the projects. Donations welcome.

KNITTING-Learn the basics of knitting while making fun projects on Saturday mornings from 10—11 a.m. for grades 2 – 5. 7 week session starts Saturday, Oct. 9 through November 20, $42.

NOW UR COOKING- Basic nutrition, utilizing math for measuring ingredients and how to make healthy food choices will be incorporated into this fun course for 3rd – 6th graders.  Located at the LARGE, modern kitchen at FiHo 2. Wednesday classes, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Begins October 6- November 3 , November 10 –December 15 (no 11/24). 5 weeks. $30 fee.

WEDNESDAY GYM TIME – 2nd – 4th graders join a structured gym activity time from 3- 3:45 p.m. Membership or guest fee required.

GIRLSintheHOUSE 2nd – 5th grade GIRLS meets Wednesdays at 3- 3:30 p.m.for girls only fun. FiHo girl Volunteer Club members organize games, activities & fun. Starts in October.   Membership or guest fee required.

MENOTOMY MANOR- Transportation is provided throughout the year to children living in Menotomy Manor. On site program on Thursdays. Parents are asked to call for further information.
INTRAMURAL FLAG TAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE- 4
th graders (and up). Games played on Wednesdays, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., culminating in the Turkey Bowl in late Fall. 9 weeks., September 29 – November 24. $70, includes game shirt.


5th – 8th Graders

5TH GRADE ONLY TRIPS- Periodic trips offered for 5th graders only. Trips advertised in our weekly newsletter and Arlington Advocate.

VOLLEYBALL- Fun, action packed volleyball games will be played on Wednesdays from 3:45 – 4:30 p.m.. The volleyball program will meet for 7 sessions beginning Wednesday, October 13.

GYMNASTICS -Established fun program for over 20 years! Classes are offered for Preschool – 8th graders. Instruction on all apparatus, flexibility and conditioning are stressed . Space is limited! Fall sessions offered September 18- November 1, November 4- Dec. 18. Flyers describing the program in detail are available.

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING- Stretching, endurance and sprint training are part of this 6 week session for 5th – 8th graders. Thursdays, 3:15 – 4 p.m., October 7– November 18. $24.

STICKBALL- Stickball games played on Fridays, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., weather permitting,. 5th grade and up. 7 weeks. October 8 – November 19. $35.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS- Outdoor activity with rotating sports, weather permitting for the 5th through 8th grade age. Tuesdays, 3:15 – 4 p.m. Starts October 5 – November 23, 8 weeks, $40.

VOLUNTEER CLUB- Grades 6-8. This is Fidelity House's Youth Board of Directors. Members help shape the future of Fidelity House, help out with varied activities and plan group trips. Call Fidelity House for more information.

FITNESS CLUB- Strengthening & conditioning weight training program utilizing fitness machines specially designed for 5th – 8th grade youth. 6 week training periods September 28 – November 5, November 10 – December 22 (No 11/27). Tuesdays 4:15 – 5 p.m., Fridays, 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. 6 prepaid visits in training period – $24, 12 prepaid visits = $48 and drop in fee = $5 per visit

INTRAMURAL FLAG TAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE- Flag Tag Football games played on Wednesdays, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., culminating in the Turkey Bowl in late Fall. 4th – 8th graders, 9 weeks, September 29 – Nov. 24. $70, includes game shirt.

BOYS PRESEASON HOOPS- Basketball conditioning program designed for 6th – 8th graders. Tuesdays, 5 –6:15 p.m., 5 weeks. September 21 – October 19. $25.

BOYS INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE – Fall intramural league for 5th – 8th graders. Games played on Friday nights AND Saturday mornings. League games include drills before each game. Teams drafted on October 2. 5th & 6th graders come 10—11 a.m. while 7th & 8th graders come 11—12 noon on October 2.. Games played through December 10. $70 (Note will start the weekend of Oct. 9 if Arlington TOWN DAY is postponed to Oct. 1 & 2)

GIRLS PRESEASON HOOPS- Basketball program for 5th – 8th grade girls. Program designed to prepare girls for the Winter traveling season by providing valuable instruction, conditioning and strengthening the necessary confidence and skills needed for a fun and rewarding basketball experience. Tuesdays, 6:15—7:30 p.m., 5 weeks. September 21 – October 19. $25.

TRAVELING BASKETBALL TEAMS- Basketball teams for 6th, 7th & 8th grade boys and 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls are organized for area youth. Tryouts begin in October.

OPTIMUM CHEER- Competitive All-Star Cheerleading program for 8 years old through 18 year olds. Comprised of dance, tumbling, jumps and stunting, cheerleading is a well rounded athletic experience with a family feel. Offered September through May. DROP-IN GAME ROOM- Open Tuesday through Friday, 2-6:30 for 6th grade and up.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 2 – 5:00 p.m. for 5th graders & Saturday 9 -4:45. The room is equipped with pool tables, ping pong, chess, cable TV & video games.

PERIODICALLY… 6th – 8th grade social– OCTOBER 1 & NOVEMBER 19... special events and trips offered for the 6th – 8th grade age. Our weekly newsletter, Arlington Advocate highlight scheduled trips. Advance registration is required.


High School

ONGOING…Membership or Guest Fee required.

HIGH SCHOOL GYM TIME-Monday-Friday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Other times to be posted.
DROP-IN GAME ROOM- Open Tuesday through Friday, 2-9 & Saturday 9 -4:45. The room is equipped with pool tables, ping pong, cable TV & video games.

HIGH SCHOOL PRESEASON HOOPS- Preseason basketball conditioning program designed for the high school age players. Program on Thursdays. Begins Sept. 23 – Nov. 4 , 7 week session. Times, fee TBA.

A Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11) & Turkey Tune Up 3 day program (Nov. 26-28) will be offered

FALL HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE – Fidelity House hosts a league for high school age players. 10-12 teams participate. Games are played on Sundays beginning Sunday, September 12.

HIGH SCHOOL NITES- Periodic Saturday evenings, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Freshman/Sophmores welcome. Membership or $5 guest fee required for attendance. Call for details.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE- Thinking of working with children or a sports-related career in your future? Opportunities to gain experience and/or fulfill your school community service requirements. Give us a call!



ADULT PROGRAMS
MENS' BASKETBALL LEAGUE – Games played on Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Teams/individuals may sign up. Team fee = $600, individual fee = $80. Leagues year round.

WOMENS BASKETBALL LEAGUE- Games played on Monday nights. Teams/ individuals interested, please call the office. Team fee = $500.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS- If you are available to help out short term/long term or seasonal, please call.
SENIORS PASS IT ON- Senior Citizens interested in passing on a skill to youth, please give us a call.
LOOKING for KNITTERS– Fidelity House is interested in starting a knitting group for Senior Citizens on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings. If this sounds like something you want to organize, give us a call!

We also follow both the Arlington Public school calendar and the Arlington St. Agnes School school calendar, offering full day programs on days off specific for those schedules.

November 25 and December 24—25—Building Closed for the Holidays.

Supporting Financial Aid Fund will allow children to participate in our Fidelity House programs at a reduced fee.     Memorial donations are gratefully accepted. Commemorative Birthday & Anniversary donations are acknowledged and appreciated.

RENTALS of FIHO 2- FiHo 2, our childcare building located at 51 R Medford Street, is available for Birthday/Celebration Rentals. We offer 3 hour time blocks. Give us a call at 781-648-2005. The FUN is already built in!
